The Renegade Rollergirls of San Diego not only skate and hit hard but we do have a soft spot for helping our community. We will represent our team and help out by showing our support for programs such as these
On Friday, April 27, 2012 at 6pm, 520 students representing 40 area high schools will join together for the second annual celebration of “A Night to Remember”, a prom for special needs students. This one of a kind event brings together 260 honored guests with special needs and 260 volunteer student hosts as well as over two hundred adult volunteers and the families and friends of the students attending the event.
Due to the generous support of the event sponsors, the evening’s honored guests will be attending free of charge. Additionally, each participant will be provided with a tuxedo or prom dress, hairstyling and make-up, a corsage or boutonniere, a limo ride, a walk down the red carpet, a night of dancing, food, and a gift bag that includes two tickets to a Padres Game. The goal of the event is to honor, love and celebrate students that sometimes feel marginalized. Based on the overwhelming response to last year’s inaugural event and the response of the local community, this event is now sold out.
This San Diego event is founded and directed by Rob and Cheryl Shields, who were inspired by a similar event in Rob’s hometown of Rockford, IL. It touched their hearts and they felt the desire to bring a similar event to San Diego.

IT WAS AMAZING! Nearly sixty Renegades on the track, and another bunch in the crowd made this game feel like a family reunion… So many skaters equal sooo much fun!
The final score was 96 Red (Home) to 126 Black (Away) – Congrats to all the skaters on the black team for a decisive win!
Thanks to all the Renegades who found their way to San Diego for the weekend. It was amazing to see so many fantastic powerful women in one place, and it’s gotten all of us so excited for the rest of the season!

It’s our favorite time of the year! Roller derby season is upon us and we are READY! We’ve got Renegades from all over California, Arizona and Oregon coming to San Diego for our Season Opener Mashup! We’ll be throwing the skater names in a hat to draw teams and letting the hits come as they may! Support your favorite skater and wear their color! (We’ll be announcing the line-up 3-4 days before the event so you know which team you’ll be rooting for.)
Donations and raffle $$ collected from this game will be going to support a friend of the Renegades who has been diagnosed with ovarian cancer and needs financial support to make it through the healing process.
You can get presale tickets from your favorite Renegade, or you can purchase presale tickets from Brown Paper Tickets.com. As always, arrive early and carpool to get good parking, doors open at 7pm, bout starts at 7:30pm. Kids 10 and under are free.
